Introduction/Project Description :
The Irrigation & Command Area Development Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh implemented Andhra Pradesh Community Based Tank Management Project (APCBTMP) in 3000 minor irrigation tanks in the state which is supported World Bank.
To facilitate the project activities Aranya Agricultural Alternatives has been selected as a support organisation for facilitating and provide hand holding support for the following activities.
Strengthening community based institutions to assume responsibility for tank system improvement and management
Tank systems improvement
Agricultural livelihoods support services
Project Details :
- Project location is in the 18 tanks in two phases in 6 Mandals-Kubeer, Bhisa, Kuntala, Lokeswram, Sarangapoor of Nirmal town and as NSO 13 mandals in 28 tanks in Adilbad district
- Duration of assignment is for 54 months as a Support Organisation and 15 months as a Nodel Support Organisation
- (Phase I – June 2007 to Dec 2009; Phase-2 Sept 2009to April 2011 and September 2011 to December 2013.
- Total No. technical Staff -3 for Phase 1 & 3 for Phase 2 for a period of 54 months and 5 members for 15 months
- The value of the contract is Rs. 16,20,000+ 1200000=2600000/-

Aranya’s Service:
- Training and capacity building of tank stake holders

- Facilitated and coordinated convergence line departments revenue for water tax collection and plough back proceedings, Agriculture and fisheries for ALSS activities
- Formation of Sub committees, CIGs and strengthening of CBOs
- Facilitated annual action plan preparation for O&M and water indent
- Trainings of members of WUA, TC, record maintenance, regular meetings, water tax collection, corpus development, water management, O& M plan, plantations, livelihoods interventions through CIGs
- To prepare gender and tribal development plans by formation of women CIGs and tribal CIGs separately
